How God’s first commandment protects us from religious slavery.

This is the first week of our summer sermon series entitled Guardrails. In this series, we are covering one of the ten commandments every Sunday. We’re looking at how each of God’s commands aren’t legalistic laws meant to be obeyed out of obligation, but rather they are boundaries that create beauty, fences that reduce fear and expand freedom, and guardrails that increase protection. These commands flow from the heart of a loving Father who wants abundant life for His children. This week we cover the first commandment and how it protects Israel, and us, from the frantic exhaustion of religious slavery.
