Anti-Hero: The Book of Judges
This is the first week of our fall series entitled Anti-Hero: The book of Judges. The Old Testament book of Judges reads like the first ever graphic novel. God raises up warrior leaders, called Judges, to set Israel free from the oppression of invading armies. However, these leaders are often so riddled with flaws that they would best fit the category of “anti-hero.” Even though Israel does eventually get set free, they find themselves cycling back through disobedience and rebellion time and time again. This cycle gets so bad that it turns into a downward spiral that leads to one of the darkest times in the history of Israel. This cycle of disobedience should seem familiar to us as we also experience this sort of cycle and downward spiral in our own personal battle against sin. Let’s watch learn the cycle we can find ourselves in and the way God can deliver us from it.
