The story of Mary and the angel Gabriel is certainly one of the most astonishing stories in the Bible. It describes the in-breaking of God, the surprising appearance of an angel sent by God to a seemingly insignificant girl living with her parents in the dusty, farming town of Nazareth in Galilee. Mary was the original “girl interrupted.” Her whole life was turned upside down in the space of a few moments. What do we know about her?
