This is Pentecost Sunday. This is the Sunday that we celebrate and remember the outpouring of the Spirit in Acts 2 and the birth of the Church. The onlookers in Jerusalem who heard the disciples speaking in their own native languages, asked “What does this mean?” (Acts 2:12). This sermon unpacks the multifaceted meaning of the outpouring of the Spirit at Pentecost in light of how many Old Testament promises it fulfilled. The outpouring of the Spirit at Pentecost fulfilled Joel 2, Mt. Sinai, Jeremiah 31, Ezekiel 37 and undid the damage of the Tower of Babel, just to name a few. Let’s watch and learn the deep and layered meaning behind the outpouring of the Spirit at Pentecost.
